The lianas are climbing wood vines that drape from rainforest trees. These vines have adapted to the rainforest by having their roots in the ground and having the top of them go high into the top of the tree to reach the sunlight. These vines usually start at the top and then send their roots down to the ground.

Leaves have adapted in the Rainforest by having "drip tips" this makes it so the plenty of rain they get can quickly drip off them. the

leaves need to have water quickly run off them so they don't grow fungus and bacteria.

Most trees have a thick bark to help limit moisture evaporation, since it rains all the time in the Tropical Rainforest this is not a problem. Bark in the rainforest has adapted to be thin and smooth. this may also make it harder for plants to grow on the bark.

Roots of trees in the tropical rainforest are typically not as deep as most trees so they have adapted to form Buttresses. these are near the base of the tree and help with stability. These can rise about 30 feet before they blend into the tree.

Epiphytes are plants that live on the surface of other plants, mainly the trunk and branches. They grow on trees so they can take advantage and get sunlight.

Bromeliads are found mainly in the Americas. Some grown on the ground like pineapples , but most of them grow on branches of trees. The leaves form a vase like structure to hold water. These support things like bacteria, protozoa, mosquitos and dragonfly larvae.

Along the ocean edge there are trees called mangroves which have adapted to living in wet, marshy conditions. They have wide-spreading stilt roots that support the trees in the tidal mud and consume nutritious organic matter.

Pitcher plant vines have leaves that form a pitcher, which is where the plant got the name,  that are complete with a lid. This plant has a sweet or foul smelling nectar in the pitcher that attracts insects (mostly ants and flies) it also has downward facing hairs on the inside so that the insects can not escape.

Prop and stilt roots help give support and are characteristics of the tropical palm trees that grow in shallow and wet soil. the tree grows pretty slow at about 28 inches a month.

The Scarlet Flame Bean is a plant that has adapted by its new leaves forming in a pale pinkish brown hanging cluster, this makes their new leaves unappetizing to preditors.
